80 families sharing unique expertise handed down from generation to generation. In 1956, after a terrible winter that killed most of the olive trees in the region of Vacqueyras, a few winegrowers decided to pool their skills and the production of their vineyards.
Messieurs Doux, Arcusi, Seignour, Vrastor, Mery, and Vache laid the cornerstone of the Vacqueyras cooperative cellar at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail, in the Rhone Valley.
Guided by their enthusiasm
The winegrowers have adapted to the times and their cooperative grew to become the Vignerons de Caractère we know today: a cellar deeply rooted in its region, but also turned towards the future.
"The cooperative movement is ideal for winegrowers, making it possible to look after one's vines without having to worry about making the gapes into wine. To each his own"
